The brief

KPMG, one of the Big Four professional services firms, was hosting a three-day conference in London for young colleagues from around the world. On one of the evenings it wanted to show its 65 guests the City, then deliver them to a restaurant reservation in New Change.

The walk

On a cold, damp night we split the delegates into smaller groups, each with its own guide, so everyone could hear the stories and ask questions.

The routes took in world-famous sights such as the Bank of England, the Royal Exchange and Guildhall, alongside places few visitors ever find: the site of London's first coffee house, the burial place of a famous goose, and the spot where a Sir Christopher Wren church once stood before it was dismantled and rebuilt in Fulton, Missouri.

Despite the weather and the trains, every group reached the restaurant on time.

The result

The organiser got in touch the following day to say the feedback from visitors was excellent, and that everyone had enjoyed seeing a different side to London.

“I would like to express my gratitude and thanks for a fantastic walking tour yesterday, despite the weather and the trains not being on our side the feedback from our visitors was excellent. Everyone enjoyed seeing a different side to London.”
