The brief

Virgin moved several of its businesses, including Virgin Red, Virgin Unite, Virgin StartUp and Virgin Limited Edition, into new offices in what had been Whitfield Studios. Opened in 1965, the studios had been the recording venue of choice for artists as varied as the Rolling Stones, Bing Crosby, Madonna, the Spice Girls, Amy Winehouse and the Clash.

Virgin wanted the people working in the new building to get to know the neighbourhood, and commissioned a series of familiarisation walks through nearby Soho.

The walk

With a recording studio for a base, music was the obvious thread. The walks traced Soho's remarkable musical heritage, from Mozart to Queen and David Bowie, Paul McCartney and Wings, Ronnie Scott and Jimi Hendrix, plus plenty more besides.

The result

Virgin's Director of Business Operations got in touch after the tour: "Thank you so much for a really enjoyable tour - everyone said they found it so interesting."
